A phenomenological analysis of antiproton interactions at low energies

چکیده
We present an optical potential analysis of the p̄p interactions at low energies. Our optical potential is purely phenomenological, and has been parametrized on data recently obtained by the Obelix Collaboration at momenta below 180 MeV/c. It reasonably fits annihilation and elastic data below 600 MeV/c, and allows us for an evaluation of the elastic cross section and ρ−parameter down to zero kinetic energy. Moreover we show that the mechanism that depresses p̄−nucleus annihilation cross sections at low energies is present in p̄p interactions too.

Elastic Proton-proton and Proton-antiproton Scattering: Analysis of Complete Set of Helicity Amplitudes
The differential cross-sections are calculated for proton-proton and proton-antiproton elastic scattering using the phenomenological model based on the analytic parameterizations for global scattering parameters (total cross-section and ρ parameter), crossing symmetry and derivative relations. We confront our model predictions with experimental data in wide range of energy and momentum transfer...
متن کاملAntiproton production in Ni+Ni collisions at 1.85 GeV/nucleon.
Antiproton production in Ni+Ni collisions at 1.85 GeV/nucleon is studied in the relativistic Vlasov-Uehling-Uhlenbeck model. The self-energies of the antiproton are determined from the nucleon self-energies by the G-parity transformation. Also, the 6nal-state interactions of the antiproton including both rescattering and annihilation are explicitly treated. With a soft nuclear equation of state...
متن کاملEffects of Solar Modulation on the Low-energy Cosmic-ray Antiproton/proton Ratio
We examine the transport of cosmic-ray protons and anitprotons from local interstellar space through the interplanetary medium to Earth and discuss the resulting e†ects on the low-energy antiproton/proton ratio at 1 AU. We Ðnd that the antiproton/proton ratio at energies above D3 GeV is a useful diagnostic of cosmic-ray transport in the Galaxy. However, at energies below D1 GeV the expected rat...
متن کاملReview of Rest Gas Interaction at Very Low Energies Applied to the Extra Low Energy Antiproton Ring Elena
The Extremely Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) is a small synchrotron equipped with an electron cooler, which shall be constructed at CERN to decelerate antiprotons to energies as low as 100 keV. Scattering of beam particles on rest gas molecules may have a detrimental effect at such low energies and leads to stringent vacuum requirements. Within this contribution scattering of the stored bea...
متن کامل- th / 9 80 30 10 v 1 4 M ar 1 99 8 Antiproton Production in p + d Reaction at Subthreshold Energies
An enhancement of antiprotons produced in p + d reaction in comparison with ones in p + p elementary reaction is investigated. In the neighborhood of subthresh-old energy the enhancement is caused by the difference of available energies for antiproton production. The cross section in p + d reaction, on the other hand, becomes just twice of the one in elementary p + p reaction at the incident en...
